Hello All!
*Just a reminder that we have no school Wednesday, Thursday or Friday this week. (Nov. 21-23). *NO spelling or Speak-up this week. *The spelling words and reading are becoming increasingly harder. Please assist your child as much as possible with practice. Spelling Ideas: (A little practice each night will help improve success versus waiting until Thursday.) 1. Read & Write: Have your child read them to you and write them. 2. "Build, Mix & Fix": Use magnetic letters, letter tiles or write the words on scratch paper and cut them apart. (Build the word while looking at it, you might need to do this a few times, then have your child visualize/picture the word in his/her mind with his/her eyes closed, mix it up & then "fix it"- move the letters to spell it correctly). 3. Sorting: Write the words on scratch paper and the cut each word out (don't cut them apart like #2) and then sort them into groups according to the spelling patterns. Reading: 1. Remember to echo read to your child if the books or sheet are difficult. Read the sheets to your child, save old books and sheets to practice, this will be less discouraging because there will be more success. *Homework: Play a board game and read your child a story before bed. We've learned how to play "Kings Corner" in math and also "Before & After" (your student can explain). *We do not do a class Christmas gift exchange. Happy Thanksgiving!!
