Hi! It's hard to believe we're headed into the fourth week of school! The kids are getting into routines and learning many new things. Thanks for your continued support! Please see below for many updates.
Homecoming: Next week, September 24-28 is Homecoming. To celebrate at Albany Elementary we will have special dress-up days. Monday: Color Day (see below) Pre-k: Red K: Orange 1: Yellow 2: Green 3: Blue 4: Purple 5: Black and White Tuesday: Mismatch and Pattern Day (stripes, plaid, polka dots, etc) - Wear them all! Wednesday: Wacky Hair Day Thursday: Tie Dye Day Friday: Spirit Day - wear your Huskies gear! Birthdays: Please remind your child to bring in a favorite book that I can read to the class or I can make my classroom library available. Also, just a reminder of the school's new policy of no food treats for birthdays. Forms & Money: If you have any forms at home for the library's Acceptable Use Policy or other school forms, please return them as soon as possible. If you haven't already, please send in the coins for math (4 quarters, 10 dimes, 10 nickels, 20 pennies). All money will be returned at the end of the year. Wednesdays (after next week): Each Wednesday students are invited to wear orange to show support against bullying. Walk-a-thon: Our Walk-a-thon kicked-off today. Look for an envelope in your child’s backpack with information. The Walk-a-thon is scheduled for the morning of Friday, October 5. Conference Slips: On Thursday sign-up sheets for parent-teacher conferences were sent home. Please return those by Tuesday, September 25 as we will be doing the scheduling next week.

*Books: Look for little black and white books to come home starting this week and for the rest of the year. These are great for reading practice at home. We've read them at school a couple times before they are sent home. It's a great idea to save these books to go back to and read, especially if the current ones become difficult. Your child can read these books to you, you can read to them, and you can "echo" read to them (you read a sentence or part of a sentence and have your child read back to you).
*Birthday Celebration: I am encouraging students to bring a book for me to read to the class on the day we celebrate his/her birthday. I can also make my classroom library available to pick from. *Tomorrow, Friday, September 7, is the deadline to sign up for Running Club. Running Club is on Tuesdays, Wednesday, & Thursday from 7:30am-8:00am. Students can run/walk as much as they like and leave for breakfast at 7:45am. There are two staff members present and they will alert kids when it's time for breakfast. *Picture Day: Thursday, September 13. Picture envelopes are being sent home today. Send them back at any time and I will hold on to them until picture day. *The first day of school was so much fun! I bet everyone will be tired tonight.
*Website: http://friedrichs.weebly.com This year I will be sending most information through blogposts on my website. I will email you a link to the website each time I post an update. *Please check your child's PURPLE take home folder daily for important information. If you need to send a note to school, please put it in this folder as I check them each morning. Please remind your child to bring this folder back and forth daily. *If your child has a change in his/her regular afternoon routine, please send a note or call the office. If you email, please email a couple of days in advance because I often don’t get to my email until after the school day is over. *Every Friday is school spirit day! Dress in ‘Albany Huskies' clothes or purple & white. *Breakfast is free for all children and starts at 7:50am. There will be no breakfast if school starts two hours late. *Lunch time is at 11:10am. I think that will do it for now. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thanks! Sara Friedrichs 845-5200 [email protected] |
