Hello! Here are few updates for this week...
*Math Homework for Tomorrow/Tuesday: I sent home a sheet today for you to help your child fill out. We will use this sheet during math. This is a great time to help your child start to memorize phone numbers and addresses. Please return it tomorrow. Thanks!! *Reading Homework: Today attached to the Speak-up you'll see several short vowel stories. Please help your child read the words on the top and then the stories. Please support your child as much as needed. Please feel free to "Echo Read" them if needed (you read the word/part of the sentence/or the whole sentence and have your child repeat it back). *Wednesday, September 25: PICTURE DAY! Please send back your envelopes any time (if you are ordering) and I'll hang on to them. *Starting Monday, September 30, you'll receive a new homework sheet most Mondays. It will contain the high frequency words we are working, fluency words or sentences, and spelling practice. Please practice this sheet several times a week. We will take spelling tests on Fridays unless otherwise noted. *Anna Marie's Shelter: Last week we had Hannah from Anna Marie's Shelter come teach about how to use our words nicely. Her theme is "Words are not for hurting." Hannah will come again next week and present another lesson. The kids are very responsive and they really have some great discussion during the reading and activities. Mrs. Friedrichs’ 1st Grade News!
*Woohoo! We made it! The first day of school was so much fun! I bet everyone will be tired tonight. *Website: http://friedrichs.weebly.com This year I will be sending most information through blogposts on my website. I will email you a link to the website each time I post an update. Check out the other tabs for schedules, etc. *Please check your child's PURPLE take home folder daily for important information. If you need to send a note to school, please put it in this folder as I check them each morning. Please remind your child to bring this folder back and forth daily. *If your child has a change in his/her regular afternoon routine, please send a note or call the office. If you email, please email a couple of days in advance because I often don’t get to my email until after the school day is over. *Every Friday is school spirit day! Dress in ‘Albany Huskies' clothes or purple & white. *Breakfast is free for all children and starts at 7:50am. There will be no breakfast if school starts two hours late. *Lunch time is at 11:20am-11:50am. The sandwich option starts next week. *Birthday Celebrations: Please have your child bring a favorite book from home for me to read to the class on the day of his/her birthday. While treats are not necessary, Albany Elementary asks parents to send treats that are not food. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thanks!
