Hello!
Thanks for sending your kids dressed for the weather! It helps greatly at recess time. MATH Today I sent home a bag of paper dominoes. The dominoes are for you to keep at home. Please see ideas below. *Domino Top-It (Think "War" with Dominoes): Each person flips over one domino & the person with the highest or lowest (choose how you play) gets the domino. Today the kids practiced saying the total number on the domino before the student with the higher number got to take it. The purpose of this game is to help kids gain number sense & practice for addition facts. The kids are really working hard on recognizing the patterns on the dots on one side and knowing the number, then adding on the other side, versus counting each individual dot. *Addition Practice with Dominoes: Practice saying the the numbers on the dominoes in an addition number sentence. i.e. 5+4=9 *Money: Please continue to practice counting money. We introduced the dime this week. We are working on counting small combinations of pennies, nickels, & dimes. Please also practice trading/exchanging pennies for nickels, etc. Christmas Card/Picture: If your family sends a Christmas card with a picture I'd love to have one to display if you have an extra. The kids (& me!) enjoy seeing them and they are a great topic for conversation. |
